Jeg vil gerne takke Formand Malag\u00f2 for de venlige ord og sende en hilsen til alle: til Forbundet, til teknikere, tr\u00e6nere, assistenter, men is\u00e6r til jer, k\u00e6re atleter.<\/p>\n

Jeg har dog ikke t\u00e6nkt mig at over\u00f8se jer med ord. For jeg er overbevist om, at I f\u00e5r masser at vide i disse dage, fra tr\u00e6nere, coaches og fra teknikere.<\/p>\n

Det sidste, I har brug for er, at Republikkens Pr\u00e6sident tilf\u00f8jer en ekstra byrde og jeg vil derfor begr\u00e6nse mig til ganske f\u00e5 ting.<\/p>\n

F\u00f8rst og fremmest tillykke med, at I er her.<\/p>\n

Udv\u00e6lgelseskravene har v\u00e6ret meget strenge. S\u00e5 hvis I er n\u00e5et hertil, betyder det, at I allerede har udvist og demonstreret et ekstraordin\u00e6rt talent og det er i sig selv en succes.<\/p>\n

Jeg har i virkeligheden kun \u00e9n ting at sige til jer og det er, at I har hele Italiens hengivenhed. En oprigtig hengivenhed, der ikke skal tolkes som et pres.<\/p>\n

Jeg vil gerne bede jer om ikke at f\u00f8le noget pres p\u00e5 jer selv.<\/p>\n

Jeg er sikker p\u00e5, at I vil udtrykke jeres store talent maksimalt \u2013 alle sammen \u2013 og at I vil g\u00f8re det med stort engagement, med dedikation og med sport\u00e5nd.<\/p>\n

De medaljer, der m\u00e5tte komme, vil v\u00e6re velkomne.<\/p>\n

For et \u00f8jeblik siden h\u00f8rte jeg nationalhymnen. Det er altid en smuk oplevelse og det er endnu smukkere, n\u00e5r den spilles for jer p\u00e5 sejrsskamlen. Men \u2013 jeg gentager \u2013 I m\u00e5 ikke f\u00f8le jer pressede.<\/p>\n

I skal konkurrere i fred og med ro i sindet, for det giver jer den bedste mulighed for at udtrykke jeres evner og talenter.<\/p>\n

Og jeg vil ogs\u00e5 gerne tilf\u00f8je, at I har et budskab til omverdenen.<\/p>\n

I denne komplicerede verden \u2013 som vi ogs\u00e5 talte om, da vi m\u00f8dtes i Pr\u00e6sidentpaladset \u2013 p\u00e5 dette tidspunkt, hvor s\u00e5 mange lande er forsamlede, og s\u00e5 mange atleter fra andre lande, er det et budskab om civiliseret optr\u00e6den, om venskab, om h\u00e5b og om international harmoni.<\/p>\n

Derfor \u00f8nsker jeg jer alle held og lykke.<\/p>\n

Og som sagt, medaljerne er vigtige, men det vigtigste, er det, I altid har vist og vil vise: Sports\u00e5nden og sansen for at konkurrere med engagement, med loyalitet, med et \u00f8nske om at overg\u00e5 jer selv, i jeres egne m\u00e5lestokke, og alt dette er en v\u00e6rdifuld arv.<\/p>\n

Jeg takker jer for dette m\u00f8de og ser frem til at dele disse \u00f8jeblikke med jer.<\/p>\n

I thank President Malag\u00f2 for his kind words of welcome and salute you all: the Federation, technicians, coaches, assistants, but especially you dear athletes.<\/p>\n

I do not intend to burden you with many words. I am convinced that you receive plenty of them these days, from trainers, from coaches, from technicians.<\/p>\n

The last thing you need is for the President of the Republic to add an extra burden. So I will limit myself to just a few things.<\/p>\n

First of all, congratulations to you for being here!<\/p>\n

The selection criteria were very strict. If you have made it to this point, it means that you have shown and demonstrated an extraordinary talent and that is already an achievement in itself.<\/p>\n

Naturally, what I want to tell you is this: you have the affection of the whole of Italy. A sincere affection that you must not interpret as a pressure.<\/p>\n

Please do not feel any pressure on yourselves.<\/p>\n

I am confident that you will express your great talent to the utmost \u2013 all of you \u2013 and that you will do so with great commitment, dedication and sportsmanship.<\/p>\n

The medals that may come will be welcome.<\/p>\n

Just now, I heard the national anthem. It is always wonderful to hear it, and it is even more beautiful when played for you on the competition podium, but \u2013 I repeat \u2013 you must not feel any pressure.<\/p>\n

You must compete with serenity and tranquility, because this allows you to express your abilities and talents to the fullest.<\/p>\n

And I would also add that you have a message to give.<\/p>\n

In this complicated world \u2013 as we discussed at the Quirinale when we met \u2013 in a moment when so many Nations are gathered, and so many athletes from other countries, it is a message of civilization, of friendship, of hope, of international serenity.<\/p>\n

And so I wish you all the best of luck.<\/p>\n

I repeat, the medals may be important, but what is truly important is what you have always shown and will show: the sense of sportsmanship, of competing with commitment, with loyalty, with a desire to surpass yourselves, according to your own standards, and all this is a great heritage.<\/p>\n

I thank you for this meeting. It will be a pleasure to be with you in these moments.<\/p>\n
